Portrait of Strang by Allie McDonough

A. J. meets J. J.

A. J. Roy, founder of the Beaver Island Historical Society, gazes fondly at a portrait of James Jesse Strang done by Island-born Chicago artist Allie McDonough. Allie, who donated many of his paintings to be raffled at charitable events in Chicago and Grand Rapids which raised money for Beaver Island charities, also painted a portrait of Feodor Protar and donated it to the BIHS.

Unfortunately this painting was lost at some undetermined time, probably in the 1980s.
